painting

Painting is the beginning point for much of my work.

I think painting has a capability to be anything; paintings can be paint on canvas, but they can also be the color of your car, or the oil stain on your shirt, or the bird shit on the street. Paint can be anything and painting can be anything. Painting paves new avenues of creating, looking, and learning about the world that easily overlap into other media categories. I use paint to understand color, chemistry, physics, and those curiosities branch off into other forms of making, such as printmaking, photography, or design. The result is artwork with an enmeshment of techniques that resist simple categories like “painting,” or “printmaking.”
